Disabled Students' Allowance

Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) helps pay for  extra costs you might have because of your disability

If you qualify for DSA you’ll get it on top of your other student finances, and you don’t have to pay it back.

DSA can help pay for things like equipment, non-medical helpers, travel and anything else you need to help you study. It doesn’t cover costs that are the same for everyone, only costs that are a result of your disability.

Who can apply for DSA

You may be eligible if you have a disability, long term illness or a specific learning difficulty (like dyslexia).

You’ll need to have an assessment and if you are eligible the amount you’ll be paid will depend on your needs, not on your income.
