Child in Need Assessments
We can assess your situation to see what support you and your family need
One of our social workers will meet with you and other family members. If your child (or children) are old enough to take part, our social worker will include them.
We’ll consider your ethnic and cultural background for the assessment. We can offer help in your first language. A signer can help family members who have hearing difficulties.
If someone is already helping you and your family, our social worker may want to speak to them. We’ll talk about this with you.
If you don’t agree with the test results, you’ll get a chance to share your thoughts on the assessment record.
Assessments are usually completed within 45 working days of your referral.
Your information will be treated confidentially. If we need to share it, we’ll ask for your permission first.
However, we may not ask for your permission if we think any of your information suggests your child’s safety is being threatened. We’ll tell you what rights you have in this situation.
We’ll try to offer you the services you need as quickly as possible. However, we can’t always offer services due to the number of people that need them. We will always look for alternative if this happens.
