Early Years Learning Networks

We offer a range of networks for all early years practitioners to enhance knowledge, skills and improve practice.

Autumn Networks - Little Scientists

Science encompass both body of knowledge which explains natural phenomena and the systems for acquiring this knowledge through observation and experimentation.

Science affects all our lives at every level. It governs the materials used to construct our homes, the processes by which electricity is generated, the way our food is grown and processed, the use we make of medicines and medical technology, and the technology we use for communication and transport.

We need the knowledge to help our children develop their scientific skills for the future!

Babies and young children formulate theories, make and test predications, seek explanations, do experiments and revise what they know in the light of new evidence (Gopnick et at., 199:161)

In the EYFS, Science is covered in the section ‘Understanding the World’.

This Network will help to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge that you need, to support all early years children from babies upwards, through activities, teamwork, experiments, explorations and investigating.

You will come away brimming with ideas for your Little Scientists!
