Early Years Learning Networks

We offer a range of networks for all early years practitioners to enhance knowledge, skills and improve practice.

Come Talk with Me

Come Talk with Me networks are focused on improving children's outcomes in speech, language and communication.

Each network has a different focus, but each provides an excellent opportunity to:

• Share good practice, skills and knowledge
• Build your own professional network
• Engage in discussion and explore new activities
• Learn from each other and through interactive presentation

Tuesday 20th February 4.30-6.30

Toddler Link

Toddler Link is to support practitioners working with two year olds.

The next network is Foundation for Literacy.

Babies and toddlers who grow up in a talk rich environment, are likely to be immersed in rhyme and song as they grow and will take pleasure in the rhythms, stories and sense of belonging these bring. They will learn that their body is a tool for communication and develop coordination, motor skills and the ability to scan – all skills necessary for reading and writing.

Positive interactions with young children are extremely important to enable them to learn and grow.

Tuesday 24 October 4:30 to 6:30pm

Pre-school Link

Pre-school link is to support practitioners working with three and four year olds.

The next network is Foundations to Literacy - An introduction to Letters and Sounds - Phase One.

Phase One Letters and Sounds recognises the central importance of developing speaking and listening skills as a priority in their own right and for paving the way to making a good start with Literacy skills. The more words children know and understand in their early years the better equipped they are to succeed with later skills such as reading and writing. Therefore, this network explores ways of providing broad and rich language experiences for children which are the hallmark of good early years practice.

Tuesday 28 November 4:30 to 6:30pm

They will learn that their body is a tool for communication and develop coordination, motor skills and the ability to scan – all skills necessary for reading and writing.

You will be introduced to Phase One Letters and Sounds aimed at children three years’ plus which recognises the central importance of developing speaking and listening skills as a priority in their own right and for paving the way to making a good start with Literacy skills. The more words children know and understand in their early years, the better equipped they are to succeed with later skills such as reading and writing.
