GDPR Information for Early Years settings
To ensure that you are starting to put things into place to meet the new GDPR requirements for May 2018, please see more information about this from Pre-School Learning Alliance.
Exciting new free professional development resource from The Communication Trust
The Communication Trust have just released a fantastic professional development resource. The resource is a video, which aims to support practitioners to develop the skills and confidence they need to talk to parents when they have a concern about a child’s speech, language or communication development. This resource would be perfect to use in a staff meeting. There are also some accompanying materials that can be downloaded. You can access the video and resources online.
From the 1st April 2018, all training invoices and related correspondence will be sent via email rather than by post. If you prefer to receive this correspondence by post, please email Giovanna Lo Porto and she will update the system.
Childcare Works – Learn, Explore, Debate Seminars
Childcare Works has created a special programme of LED events for providers focusing on 30-hours. The events will be delivered in partnership with the Foundation Years Team at Action for Children. The audience for these events is all early years and childcare providers including: nursery providers, children’s centres, schools, childminders and local authority officers working with providers. The event which is free to attend will be held in Bournemouth 22 February. Book here.
LSCB Safeguarding courses are moving to NEXUS
Both LSCBs will move to one booking system: Dorset Nexus from April 2018.
Practitioners can only book onto LSCB training if their setting is set up as a ‘site’ on Nexus. Sites can only be set up by Nexus administrators and you MUST complete an application form to do this. Once the site has been created, the CPD leader/Manager will need to add individual accounts for staff.
Some Bournemouth Early Years providers have already set up an account on Nexus and should not have to do anything else apart from ensuring all their staff are set up with accounts. Please read the ‘HOW TO’ manual to help you set up as a site, set up accounts and about booking courses on Nexus. Please contact Nexus if you have any queries.
Please see updated information on the Early Years Safeguarding web page.
