Keeping Children Safe in Education Draft
For your information; the Keeping children safe in education draft guidance has been released in readiness for use from September 2019.
Pan-Dorset Continuum of Need Document
Following on from our previous communication about the new Pan-Dorset Continuum of Need document, we are now able to send you the final ‘Working Draft’ document for immediate use by your agency and circulation to your various networks.
The aim is for this ‘Working Draft’ to be piloted by agencies across BCP and Dorset to test its suitability. The multi-agency task and finish group overseeing this development would welcome further feedback during the pilot period and you may notice that some of the earlier feedback has already been addressed in this version of the document.
Please send any feedback by email for collation.
This pilot phase will be live from 1 July until 31 August 2019. Any further feedback will then be reviewed, and appropriate changes made before the document is formally passed to the new Pan-Dorset Safeguarding Partnership leadership team for ratification and adoption in mid-September.
Policy and Procedures
New Ofsted Inspection Framework Briefings
Are you ready for the new Ofsted Inspection Framework which will come into force from 1st September 2019?
These briefings will provide you with an opportunity to hear directly from the South West Regional Ofsted HMI, Jane Burchall, about the changes to the way in which Ofsted will inspect education institutions including early years settings when the common inspection framework (CIF) is replaced by the education inspection framework (EIF).
During both sessions, afternoon and evening on 5 September, which are being held at the Bournemouth Learning Centre, there will be ample opportunity for providers to ask questions and seek further clarity regarding aspects of the new Framework.
Portage Workshop - A Small Steps Approach to Learning for Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Do you want to increase your knowledge, skills and confidence in working with children with SEND? If so, there are still spaces available on the Portage Small Steps training starting on Tuesday 17 September. This 2½ day workshop consists of 7 modules, plus an opportunity for practitioners to reflect on their learning, and consider the implementation of the Portage model and strategies into daily practice.
For full course details, dates, times, costs and bookings please see BCP CPD Online.
Jill Barnett will also be offering this training over 6 sessions from Monday 2 March until Monday 27 April 2020, 9.15am to 12.15pm. Booking will be available from October.
Nursery Property for Sale
Sale of a residential property that has within it a currently non-operational 18 place Day Nursery provision.
The provision was run as Childcare on Domestic Premises and had a fantastic reputation and waiting list under Hedgehogs Childcare. It is in an ideal location next to the college and Poole Park. It has a secure & private outside learning area. There is no current Ofsted registration but the property benefits from Class D1 business use on the ground floor with planning permission for 18 children all year round.
There is scope to easily increase planning permission to use the entire property as a nursery. Alternatively, it may suit a childminder looking to extend their business but live on the property with a family.
For more information please contact Fiona Whitwell or call on 07475 183023.
