The UK has lost its measles-free status three years after the virus was eliminated in the country. Measles is one of the world's most contagious diseases but it can be prevented through two doses of the MMR vaccine - something that is offered free by the NHS to all young children in the UK. Please ask parents and carers to check their children’s red book to ensure they are up to date with their vaccinations. You can find more useful information to share here.

For children born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, parents need to apply for a school place for September 2020. The closing date for applications for reception places is 15 January 2020.

Ofsted Registration Fee Consultation
This is a reminder that the Department for Education has launched a consultation, which is seeking views on a proposed increase to the application fee and the annual fee paid to Ofsted by childcare providers on the Early Years Register with a view to changes coming into force from April 2020.
The consultation, was launched on 18 July and will close at 10am on 9 October 2019.
Ofsted Big Conversation
This is a forum that is for all those interested in the fairness and quality of Ofsted inspections and also in the EYFS and Funding. It provides an opportunity to share your experiences, voice your frustrations, for networking, CPD, and engagement first hand with Ofsted, Local Authorities and the DfE. Book now to attend at the Early Years Centre for Professional Development on Monday 21 October from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Reducing Parental Conflict Training
We have long understood the negative impact on children living in environments with domestic abuse. Current research has clearly demonstrated that children experiencing inter-parental conflict below this level can still be damaged in quite a significant way, both emotionally and academically. There are free training sessions running from September to March 2020 bookable on CPD Online.
Speech and Language Support
Elklan Speech and Language Support for 3-5s will help you to gain the skills to support ALL children on their journey to developing good language skills and thereby to demonstrate the quality of education in your setting. This course will be delivered in 9 evening sessions. For more information and to book your space now look on look on CPD Online.
