Safe Schools and Communities Team

Safe Schools and Communities Team is a partnership between Dorset Police and Dorset Combined Youth Offending Service to prevent and reduce anti-social behaviour.

The SSCT also have a remit to prevent and reduce crime and wrong-doing amongst children and young people and help keep them safe in a digital world.

As part of this, the SSCT run a comprehensive Community Safety Education programme. This involves education to children and young people, professionals and parents in the following areas:

  • E-safety
  • Alcohol and drug misuse
  • Anti-bullying
  • Anti-social behaviour
  • Child sexual exploitation
  • Diversity
  • Domestic abuse
  • Firearms
  • Health relationships
  • Preventing gang culture
  • Preventing violent extremism
  • Weapons

This includes the BLITZ project together with Dorset Fire and Rescue, which looks at the dangers and consequences of underage drinking and anti-social behaviour. As well as GRiP (Gaining Respect in People) road shows for year Seven students that cover diversity, weapons, preventing gang culture and anti-social behaviour.

The SSCT Officers work closely with schools and communities to deliver advice and interventions on all these topics. Our three day Restorative Justice training has been accredited by the Restorative Justice Council.
