The only way to access the treatment system and the services available is through the Bournemouth Engagement and Assessment Team (BEAT)

The BEAT is a 'one stop' shop, offering advice, information and support to anyone affected by drugs and/or alcohol (individuals, families, friends, carers and concerned others)

Opening times

  • Mon - Tue: 10:00-12:00, 14:00-16:00
  • Wed: 14:00-16:00
  • Thu - Fri: 10:00-12:00, 14:00-16:00

Needle Exchange runs 13:00-16:30 Mon-Fri

You can drop-in, make an appointment or someone can make a referral for you.

Referrals can be made in person, over the phone, by letter, by online referral.

BEAT Services

  • one to one support
  • educational workshops
  • enhanced brief interventions
  • motivational groups (daytime and evening groups available)
  • assessment and preparation for further support
  • referrals to other treatment services, based on assessed need
  • referral, or help to find other health and social care services
  • harm minimisation service (needle exchange)
  • support for families and carers

Care co-ordinators within the BEAT provide support and refer people to services within the drug and alcohol treatment system. This is done in agreement with the person accessing the service.
