There are several laws which help us share and protect information

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

This Act gives you access to  business information we hold, so you can learn more about what we do and how we make decisions.

Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)

This Regulation gives you access to  business information we hold that is about the environment, for example information relating to soil, air, water quality and any building or land work.

Data Protection Act (DPA)

This Act protects the personal information we hold about living individuals. The Act gives you a right of access to personal information we hold about you as an individual.

Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA)

This Act allows us to use surveillance, like CCTV to protect the public and prevent crime.

Human Rights Act (HRA) and Common Law Duty of Confidentiality (CLDC)

These Acts protect the personal and private information we hold about people. Before we can share or disclose personal information about individuals, we have to consider these.
