Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Travel Survey
The Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Travel Survey is designed to monitor long-term trends in personal travel and to inform the development of policy and to try and improve travel in the area. This survey will help us understand how people who live and work in the area travel around and their reasons for travelling in that way.
The survey closed on Sunday 13th January and the results are now available.
Why are you running this survey?
The survey will help us understand how people who live and work in the area travel around and their reasons for travelling in that way. This information will offer valuable insight for future travel plans in the area.
Why should I complete the travel survey?
Whatever your circumstances, they are relevant to this survey. Obtaining information from as many people as possible is the only way we can get a complete and accurate picture of people’s experiences of, and attitudes towards, travel in the area. By taking part you will ensure that your experiences and opinions help influence travel plans in the area. Plus, by taking part you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win one of three £50 vouchers!
I don’t live in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole. Should I still complete the survey?
Yes. If you don’t live in the area but you still travel around the area for work, study or other activities then your travel behaviour is still really useful information.
How long will the survey take to fill in?
The survey will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. You will need to allow enough time to complete the survey in one go as you cannot save the survey and return to it at a later date.
Why are there so many questions?
To get a full picture of people’s travel behaviour we need to know about all types of travel for work, study, school and general travel. We also need details of individual journeys to better understand how people travel around the area.
Why do you want to know my home address, child’s school, work location etc?
We ask for location details including postcode so that we can calculate journey distances to see how far people are travelling. Data won’t be analysed at an individual level.
I’m not comfortable providing all the information about myself. What should I do?
Although the information is really useful, you don’t have to provide it. You can leave the question blank if you are not comfortable providing any particular information.
How will the results be analysed?
Results will be analysed by each question and broken down into groups where appropriate e.g. most common mode of transport by age groups or by average distance travelled. Results won’t be looked at on an individual level.
What will the results be used for?
The results will be used to monitor long-term trends in personal travel and to inform the development of policy and to try and improve travel in the area.
Why are you offering incentives?
To get the most out of the survey, we need as many people as possible to complete it. Offering incentives increases response rates.
