How We Promote Green Tourism
Green Tourism Business Scheme
Bournemouth Tourist Information Centre, Bournemouth Seafront Office and Poole Tourist Information Centre are all members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
The Green Tourism Business Scheme is a national scheme which grades businesses against a rigorous set of criteria. It covers a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and more.
Bournemouth and Poole Tourism organise annual sustainability conferences and workshops for local Tourism and hospitality businesses. These conferences and workshops encourage local businesses to go green and to use locally produced food.
Bournemouth and Poole Tourism organised an ‘All the fun….None of the Fare’ Bus Campaign. This involved visitors staying in Green Tourism Business Scheme rated accommodation. These ranged in size from small B&Bs to medium and large sized hotels. Visitors were given free bus tickets, in return for leaving their car keys at reception and embarking on a car-free day.
Bournemouth Tourism is developing its Green Tourism in line with the Earth Charter principles.
