Bournemouth District Wide Local Plan
Setting out policies for development proposals
The Bournemouth District Wide Local Plan (BDWLP) was adopted in 2002 and is in the process of being replaced by the new Bournemouth Local Plan.
In the mean time, several of the BDWLP policies will remain in force (see Saved Policies section below).
Different parts of the BDWLP are available using the links below. The Local Plan Proposals Map has been superseded by the Amended Local Plan Proposals Map 2012 updated in May 2013.
You can buy a printed copy of the District Wide Local Plan document from Planning and Transport, for £25.00 (postage and packing £3.00). A CD version of the District Wide Local Plan is also available for the same cost (postage and packing £1.00).
We have a table showing the saved policies current status which will continue to be updated.
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 allowed the Bournemouth District Wide Local Plan to keep their development plan status for three years. Policies could also be ‘saved’ after the initial three-year period with the agreement of the Secretary of State - a formally agreed schedule was published in September 2004.
As documents making up the new Bournemouth Local Plan are adopted, policies in the existing District Wide Local Plan will be updated, or no longer required.
