Planning for waste disposal and mineral extraction in Dorset

Our Planning Committee makes decisions on applications for mineral sites and waste management facilities in Bournemouth. However, under an agreement, we are advised on strategic minerals and waste planning matters by Dorset Council officers. Prior to Local Government Re-organisation in April 2019 Dorset County Council was responsible for the preparation of minerals and waste planning documents for Bournemouth Borough Council, the Borough of Poole and Dorset councils. A similar relationship has continued since re-organisation with the new Dorset Council supplying expertise to BCP Council.
