Bournemouth, Christchurch and East Dorset Joint Retail and Leisure Study 2017 & 2019
Read the 2017 and 2019 Update Retail and Leisure Study reports
The Bournemouth, Christchurch and East Dorset Joint Retail Study has been prepared by Lichfields on behalf of Bournemouth Borough Council and Christchurch and East Dorset Councils. This study completely supersedes the GVA Bournemouth Borough Council Retail and Leisure Capacity Study Update 2011.
The 2017 Joint Retail and Leisure Study is split into two volumes:-
- Volume 1 Report which summarises the relevant policy context, describes the shopping hierarchy and provides a needs assessment for retail and other main town centre uses;
- Volume 2 Report which relates specifically to Bournemouth Borough Council. This volume assesses the main centres in the Borough and sets out recommendations and conclusions. Health checks of each defined centre are also included in this volume.
An Update Addendum Report (2019) provides a partial update of the JLRS, and should be read alongside Volumes 1 and 2 of the JLRS 2017. This report updates the retail and food / beverage floorspace capacity projections 2017 - 2033. It takes into account implications of the revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) 2018, updated population projections and Experian's latest expenditure forecasts (2018).
