Queen's Park Ward Area Neighbourhood Plan
Designation of Neighbourhood Plan Area and Neighbourhood Forum
Following a six week consultation Bournemouth Borough Council has approved an application by the community to designate Queen's Park Ward Area Neighbourhood Forum and Neighbourhood Plan Area.
This decision enables the local community to prepare a neighbourhood plan for their area in accordance with the Localism Act 2011.
You can find out further information and get involved in the neighbourhood plan at https://www.facebook.com/QueensParkForum/ or www.queenspark.org.uk
The Neighbourhood Plan Area is largely based on the Queen's Park Ward boundary. It covers the park itself and the residential areas including a large part of the area known as Charminster. It also covers both sides of Charminster Road including businesses and services on the western site which are outside the Ward.
Following the consultation the community made some minor amendments to their boundary and constitution. In particular:
- The northern boundary has been amended to take in the full width of the Queens Park Avenue, including the verge (but not the houses) on the northern side as well as Fiveways Roundabout.
- Reference has been added in the constitution to residents living close to but outside the boundary being able to attend meetings.
What is a Neighbourhood Plan?
A Neighbourhood Plan is a framework for guiding the future development, regeneration and conservation of an area. It is different from other planning documents because it is prepared by the local community.
Once it has been completed through a statutory process and adopted by the Council, the policies in the plan will be used, alongside the Council's planning policy documents, to make decisions on planning applications in the area.
