How to submit potential sites for the SHLAA 2017 Update and/or the Brownfield Land Register 2017
Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) 2017
We are now starting to identify sites for the 2017 update of the Bournemouth SHLAA. This may also be updated with details of sites across the Bournemouth and Poole housing market area, to provide a broader picture of housing land availability.
Sites that were submitted for previous SHLAA updates should not be re-submitted unless there have been significant changes to the status of the site.
Brownfield Land Register
We are required to publish a Brownfield Land Register by 31st December 2017. This will provide publicly available information on all previously developed (brownfield) sites within the borough which are:
- 0.25 hectares or more in size or capable of accommodating at least 5 dwellings and
- Meet the Government's criteria, set out in Regulations, of being suitable, available and achievable for residential development.
Definition of brownfield land
Brownfield land is land that has been previously developed, although it excludes land and buildings in agricultural / forestry use and residential gardens. The official definition (see "previously developed land") can be found in Annex 2 of the National Planning Policy Framework at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-planning-policy-framework/annex-2-glossary
