Minibus Driving Competency Assessments

Information for Organisations when operating Minibuses

Schools and other not for profit organisations sometimes need to use a minibus. The legal requirements are complex. Minibus operators are responsible for being legally compliant.

We suggest checking the Government's page on driving a Minibus

Once you are satisfied that your nominated minibus driver(s) holds the appropriate category of driving licence, it is good practice to ensure that they have shown their ability. Driving a minibus safely requires more advanced skills than driving a car.

The Council works with some local Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) who offer training and assessments of the competence of not for profit minibus drivers.
