Boscombe Town Centre
Improvements to public space in and around Boscombe
Boscombe has undergone major improvements in support of the Backing Boscombe initiative to make the area a more vibrant and attractive place to live, work and visit.
Designed to enhance the local area and create a more welcoming approach to the precinct, the recently completed improvements include a fresh new layout and the removal of street clutter as well as new seating and tree planting.
One of the key elements of the improvements was the introduction of a shared space at the western end of the Precinct in a bid to open up the area, reduce traffic speed and improve access for cyclists and pedestrians.
The new layout is designed to encourage all road users to slow down and take additional care as there may be some uncertainty as to who has priority.
A restricted parking zone has also been introduced in the area to help ease congestion and increase the visibility of cyclists and pedestrians.
