We have made the Station more welcoming and accessible
The first phase of improvements to make Bournemouth Station more accessible and welcoming for the millions of visitors and commuters who use it every year has now been completed.
As part of the improvements significant changes have been made to the layout providing easier and more accessible bus, taxi and cycling facilities as well as better signage. In addition to the changes taking place on the ground, further improvements will also be made to the train station’s facilities and canopy.
We are working in partnership with South West Trains to deliver the improvements, the works are due to be complete in late 2015.
The improvements were funded from central government grants and cost approximately £1.5 million with South West Trains contributing £400,000 towards this. South West Trains will also be funding improvements to the station’s facilities and canopy.
Bus services are now using the new central section, which includes four new high quality bus shelters. Bus services into the town centre have also been improved and users are benefitting from the new digital display boards.
Short-stay car-parking and drop-off facilities
The new layout also includes dedicated facilities for short stay car parking and rail passenger drop-off that had temporarily been relocated to the London-bound side of the station during construction.
